Buffy Season 8 review. (1)

The Long Way Home, Part one.
Joss Whedon, Georges Jeanty, Andy Owens, Dave Stewart and Rischard Starkings.

Cover by: Jo Chen.
I read the comic tonight and must say on a scale of 1 to 10...3 being something not worthy of a Buffy story(out of character content and other such things) and 1 being an utterly
uncollectable comic...I'll have to give The Long Way Home, Part one a score of 7.
What it did: Show us a bit of how the characters have changed and how they have not. It showed it could make fun of itself...Nick Fury joke was great. It left several things a mystery. Who was the fellow floating above the castle? Who is Amy's boy friend? What does the symbol mean they found in the castle? All-in-all it was a little too short for my taste but I am such a huge fan it just means I want more. Making me wait for Willow and Rupert hurt but I'll get over it. Also I liked that Amy was back as a badguy because many Buffy fans wanted to see an Amy versus Willow confrontation after the curse Amy put on Will. Now it looks like we will get our chance.
What it did not do: It did not accurately give a sense that more than a year passed. And it left a lot to the imagination where the army was concerned. After all the Initiative salted the earth and covered up and abandoned every attempt to harness the supernatural and other worldly threats and powers. So what are they doing now? Seems a little far fetched the Government would get involved in something that was utterly doomed once. But then again this is a comic and if Sunnydale can be blamed on Buffy Summers as a direct cause she would seem like a terrorist. And so the brilliant plan to create decoy Buffy's.
I loved the show when it was on and this is a great way to honor and continue it.
April 4 is the release of the next comic...if you don't have issue 1 I suggest you get it. You can catch up on the story. This is a great comic. And one more thing: The art of Jo Chen is really good.
